New lease of life for the Southeastern driving simulator

Following the award of an international tender, CORYS successfully completed the refurbishment of the Southeastern Railway Javelin High Speed Train driving simulator in May 2021.

The simulator was initially delivered in 2008 to train drivers on HS1 and, after 12 years of intensive use, was ready for a new life!

Southeastern’s choice of refurbishment allowed CORYS to reuse some of the hardware as well as to streamline the design process, resulting in a cost-effective solution and faster delivery for Southeastern. The simulator was upgraded with the latest technologies including 4K screens and a motion seat to enhance the immersive experience.

Delivered during the UK lockdown, with the support of our local partner RTI, this challenging overhaul was still delivered on time!

CORYS would like to thank the Southeastern team for their participation in the remote testing phases of the project.

Greg Tallent, Head of Training at Southeastern, said,
“With the current local and global situation, we are very proud to have achieved this project. The feedback from Drivers, Trainers, and Managers has been very positive, and the new visual system and motion seat add a lot of realism.”

John Madden, Commercial Manager at CORYS, and Marie Pezé, UK Account Manager said,
“We are pleased to continue our successful long term relationship with Southeastern. We proved ourselves both during the tender process and the project, where our strong collaboration with Southeastern enabled us to overcome the challenges of lockdown.”
