CORYS high-fidelity tram simulators lets drivers practice responding to stressful, unpredictable situations safely and without immobilising the rolling stock. A CORYS tramway simulator mounted on a full motion platform with interchangeable panels to simulate four types of tram was commissioned at VAG Nuremberg in May.
The simulator also offers innovative features designed to enhance teaching and give learners as realistic an experience as possible. The Tactis instructor station with mobile tablet is a key part of the solution. Instructors can easily create scenarios and change lines from a practical map interface without having to load a new scenario. They can also take the tablet with them on the fly to control the simulation next to the trainees.
Fault-finding and manoeuvring modules, useful for both initial and refresher training, are also included in the simulator.

‘We are happy to see our customer VAG getting so much out of their new simulator. It was a pleasure to work with VAG and see their commitment to the project.’
Yaiza Rosillo, CORYS Account Manager
‘With the procurement of the Tram Simulator, an important gap in the use of simulators in training and further education has been closed. Now we are able to use simulators on all the public transport vehicles we use at VAG in Nuremberg. This enables us to provide high-quality training from the beginning to the end of basic training. Likewise, we can relieve our network by using the simulators in further training. I have very much enjoyed working with CORYS with a relationship of mutual trust and respect. The joint efforts have visibly paid off and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the CORYS team for their hard work.’
Rainer Wendler, Simulator Project Manager
