CORYS Inc. (formerly RSI Simcon) recently achieved a milestone with the delivery of its 25th INDISS® / Indiss Plus® operator training simulator (OTS) software license and technical support to KBR, Inc. (NYSE: KBR) for the development of OTS systems for its process technologies. The high-fidelity turnkey OTS systems are provided by KBR to its clients and process licensees as part of the overall technology proposal for the projects.
While the primary use of the simulators is for life cycle operator training, due to the built-in KBR know-how and high fidelity of the OTS models, these systems are routinely used to improve plant operations; fine tune control logic and test alternative operating procedures.
The INDISS® / Indiss Plus® dynamic simulation engineering licenses were provided as part of a multi-year business collaboration agreement between KBR and CORYS. Under the terms of the agreement, started in 2010, CORYS provides INDISS® / Indiss Plus® dynamic simulation software and technical support for KBR to develop dynamic models of its process technologies. KBR selected the CORYS simulation platform due to its industry-proven track-record in OTS implementations and for supplying the most complete single-source supply of technical products, including DCS emulations and interfaces, and offering a powerful set of instructor software scenario and performance measuring tools. The simulation models are used to provide cutting edge high-fidelity operator training simulators to KBR’s worldwide clients and technology licensees in fertilizer, olefins, chemicals, refining and other process industries and for dynamic engineering studies.
Among the industry’s leading dynamic simulation platforms, CORYS INDISS® and Indiss Plus® are recognized worldwide and supported by more than 40 years of research and development. More than 2,500 simulations for dynamic engineering and control studies, as well as high-fidelity operator training simulators, capable of running accurately from cold startup to design and emergency/failure modes, have been delivered.
John Derbyshire, KBR Technology President said: “We recognize CORYS’s strong commitment to the process industries served by KBR. This mutually collaborative relationship and technical support has allowed us to efficiently develop and deliver state-of-the-art simulators which benefit our global clients and technology licensees, help in faster plant commissioning, safer and more efficient process operations, and most importantly provides our clients with a highly robust and flexible lifecycle training platform. This relationship has allowed us to enhance our technology portfolio and provided additional avenues for long-term customer engagement, a key goal for our company.”
Charles Rosmorduc, CEO of CORYS Inc. said: “Our Business Collaboration Agreement with KBR is one of CORYS’ most successful relationships in the OTS and dynamic simulation industry. Our INDISS® and Indiss Plus® platforms have the flexibility to meet KBR’s and their clients’ operator training requirements as well as the ability to use our high-fidelity simulation and modelling tools for engineering and controls applications.”
