Stadler select CORYS for new Nexus Metro train fleet

Swiss train builder Stadler has contracted CORYS to supply the driver training simulator for the Tyne and Wear Metro Nexus.

Stadler will supply 42 to 46 new trains to completely replace the existing fleet and transform performance and passenger experience on Metro.

The CORYS replica simulator will be supplied in May 2022 to train Nexus drivers in normal and degraded modes ahead of commercial operations in 2023.

Blaise Prélot, Technical Project Manager at STADLER, said:
“We are pleased to continue our successful collaboration with CORYS and are looking forward to delivering a high quality driving simulator to support the driver training on the Stadler new fleet for Nexus”.

John Madden, Commercial Manager at CORYS, said:
“This contract with Stadler builds on our 20 year presence in the United Kingdom. We are delighted to have been selected by Stadler for all their metro contracts in the UK following previous projects in Liverpool and Glasgow. We look forward to working with Stadler and Nexus to deliver a state of the art driver training system .”
