KiwiRail the-state-owned enterprise which owns and operates New Zealand’s rail transportation network has selected CORYS to supply a locomotive simulator.
CORYS will supply a half cab replica simulator of the DL Class V2.3 diesel-electric locomotive. The system will come packed with our latest freight developments, levering the heavy haul technology already in operation with the US Class 1 Railroads and an increasing number of Australian freight operators.
The simulator will address the following KiwiRail learning needs:
- New processes, procedures, and rules for the save operation on the rail network
- Introduction to new trains, train handling techniques and familiarisation of new equipment / systems
- Route knowledge
- Train handling and vehicle operation for trainees to proceed to on-the-job training
- Gain and build problem solving skills including outside the cab
- Identify poor train handling techniques in a safe environment
- Practice emergency preparedness and high consequence/low frequency events to further develop techniques
Refresher training - Engineering validation of train operations
- Produce competency assessment reports for the learning team
“we are very excited to have engaged with CORYS to supply a new simulator. The new technology available will allow realistic replication of New Zealand’s rail network within the simulator, providing a much better training environment for new locomotive engineers.”
